When the sea floods the causeway between Burgh Island and Bigbury-on-Sea this sea tractor takes passengers across the short stretch between mainland and island. This is the 3rd generation vehicle, apparently dating back to 1966....if your car drove through all that salt water as often as this tractor does would it still be running as well as this does ? £1.50 each way for the slowest thrill ride around.

A really cool vehicle! Must be fun to take a tour on it! Where is the engine though?
Amazing! I don't think I've ever seen a vehicle quite like that...like a motorized scaffold on wheels!

gotta admit i've never been on it, as the tide is always out when i go there!
It has been a long time since I have ridden on it, I am pretty sure that the engine is in the middle of the upper carriage (where the people sit) and you can see the vertical drive shaft going down the middle to drive the wheels.
