Keep out

A Tin mine shaft near Porthleven is fenced off to prevent accidents but I think the sea has claimed some of the land since it was erected. Cornwall was the world's leading Tin mining area with over 2,000 mines in the 1870's, since that time the industry has been decimated to virtual extinction, with the last mine closing in 1998. There has been much talk of it re-opening but so far the only open mines are now tourist attractions.

Another great shot with an interesting background. I wouldn't want to try and climb that fence *ouch*!

Interesting and nice photo :)
I've never been to a mine (as a tourist of course), I would like to get once the chance to see one :)

I love the fence teetering above the abyss.

I like the geometry of the broken fence and the tumbledown stones that hold it fast, with the ocean lapping away at the shore, hungry for more. Beautiful as always, Jasp.

Funny how the fence ends so abrupt! Good catch!

The colors throughout this whole shot are so inviting. I really liked today's shot.

nice again Jasp ... nice & rustic, part of the forgotton industrial landscape ... one of my favourite bits of walking the Coast Path is the old delapitated gates, fences, etc, the old WWII fortifications, etc, & the bushes/trees shaped my the onshore winds, a superb example of which Jasp captured & posted here!!

as for my site ... yep, you guessed it! ... some Cornish Tin Mine ruins here!

laters
