Boscastle today

Boscastle suffered a devasatating flood in August 2004 and has been rebuilding since. Heavy rain (89mm in 60 minutes) caused a flash flood and raised this river by 2 metres in 1 hour, cars were swept away and 55 people were rescued by helicopters. Many of the aircrew were quite rightly recognised for their skill and bravery in saving so many people. After the flood 35 BBC crew were apprently flown in to Boscastle to cover the reporting.

It is good to see that despite being a very cold and windy day in the winter people are still visting and supporting the local people.
